Treating Neurodiverse Clients
This training is 6 hours in length (about 4 hours of videos and 2 hours of asynchronous work) and contains a number of strategies to communicate information including lecture, videos, visuals, discussion questions which will be answered in the survey, and resources for continued study.
Objectives
1. Participants will recognize traits of neurodivergence in clients who may or may not be officially diagnosed.
2. Participants will analyze and examine and discuss the ethics of competency vs ableism in the mental health system.
3. Participants will collect and prepare potential adaptations for therapy interventions for neurodiverse clients.
4. Participants will recognize a meltdown or shutdown and be able to apply support strategies for clients
5. Participants will be able to apply information learned about neurodiverse culture in order to provide more affirming treatment to neurodiverse clients
